Hegel Music Systems has launched the H200, a new 150-watt streaming integrated amplifier — and it has already been named EISA Amplifier 2026–2027. The award, from the Expert Imaging and Sound Association, is one of the most closely watched honours in European hi-fi. It puts the H200 at the centre of this year’s amplifier category.

Streaming, DAC, moving-magnet phono, analogue inputs and a proper headphone output sit on the analogue amplifier platform Hegel is known for — SoundEngine2 distortion cancellation and a damping factor of more than 4,000. EISA Award: what the jury said

EISA represents specialist hi-fi, home cinema and imaging publications across Europe and beyond. Its Amplifier award for 2026–2027 goes to the Hegel H200. The official citation reads:

That last line is the one Hegel has put on the H200 launch material — and it is a fair summary of the product: no extra decoration, no lock-in streaming app, just a powerful integrated amplifier that is ready for how people actually listen

A connected amplifier with an analogue heart

The Hegel H200 is not a streamer with an amplifier attached. It is a 150 W per channel Class A/B integrated amplifier that happens to include a carefully integrated digital section. Every part of it is designed to work as one system, with the amplifier at the centre and the music as the priority.

That matters when you are driving real loudspeakers. The H200 is stable down to 2-ohm loads. SoundEngine2 detects distortion where it occurs and cancels it before it travels further through the signal path, rather than trying to tidy it up afterwards. Combined with a damping factor above 4,000, bass starts and stops cleanly, rhythms stay easy to follow, and complex passages remain composed.

Although the H200 is built for streaming and digital playback, the analogue foundation is serious. There is one balanced XLR input, two unbalanced RCA inputs, fixed and variable line-level outputs, and a high-quality headphone output. External DACs, CD players and other source components still have a proper place in the system.

A phono stage worth using

The dedicated moving-magnet phono input is based on the MM section of Hegel’s standalone V10 phono stage. It uses hand-matched FET transistor gain stages with carefully selected op-amps, and is designed for low noise, precision and musicality. It is not a token input. If vinyl is part of how you listen, the H200 treats it as a first-class source.

Digital done properly

The onboard DAC accepts coaxial, optical, USB-B, USB-A and network sources. USB-A plays music directly from a USB drive — up to 10,000 songs. The network input opens streaming services, internet radio, podcasts and local libraries.

Hegel designs the amplifier, streamer and DAC in-house so they work as one. Digital performance depends on more than the converter chip: power supplies, grounding, clocking, signal routing and analogue filtering all decide how the DAC actually sounds. Equal care has gone into keeping digital switching noise away from the analogue stages. Separate boards for key digital circuits, careful layout and grounding are there so the background stays quiet and the music keeps its flow.

Streaming without the lock-in

The H200 works with the platforms people already use: Spotify Connect Lossless, TIDAL Connect, Qobuz Connect, Apple AirPlay, Google Cast and Roon Ready. There is no proprietary Hegel ecosystem to learn before you can play a record.

The Hegel Control app handles input selection, volume, playback, airable internet radio and podcasts, and browsing of UPnP libraries and USB drives. Because the streaming section is fully integrated with the H200’s hardware and firmware, it is designed to feel fast and stable rather than bolted on.

Built for daily use

A good amplifier should not demand attention every time it is used. Digital Input Sense can wake the H200 and select the correct input when a signal appears. It can learn volume commands from a television remote, so anyone in the house can control it without hunting for a second handset. That also works in more advanced setups, including an AV receiver on one of the analogue inputs.

Each input can be given a fixed volume level for home-theatre integration. Startup volume and maximum volume settings prevent sudden jumps. Auto standby cuts unnecessary power use. Display dimming is automatic and fully customisable — bright when you need it, dimmed for listening, or off in a dark room.

Ready to grow with the system

Firmware, app and feature updates install automatically. A coaxial digital output and DAC Loop let the H200 send digital signals to an external DAC later. Use it as a complete streaming amplifier now. Add a separate converter if your system grows. The H200 stays the hub: source selection, streaming, volume and amplification remain in one place.
